City of Life and Death

Just happen to watch this gruesome movie yesterday; and brought about some shocking revelation by the movie director of the movie; seeing some 300k people being killed and tortured by the then Nanking massacre that brought a controversial plot that you can't wait to finished up the movie ASAP, a daring plot by the chinese director in joint collaboration of with the Japanese film company; I wonder if this movie can surpass the Censoring board of both country; China and Japan,
its truly an honest revelation that shock me down my adrenaline; its like i am being brought back to the scene, not that i have not seen any war crime movie, the last controversial one i have seen is the Schindler's List by Steven Spielberg; I am not too keen of the cast of it; rather its the plot that makes my time of the day rather uneasy; I just do not know why this happen; Usual documentary movie does not affect me, but this movie does...........sigh.......its Sunday, I am supposed to have a good one, minus the late sleeping hour and horrible dream of snakes........am I getting a little paranoid? sigh.......hope the rest of the day shall ends well......I pray.

of being 1 of this and 1 of that......

of late we have heard of the top fella in our beloved country chanting for '1Malaysia'; arguably the term to unite the people of Malaysia regardless of races, colour blind kind of things......blah blah blah....

and the echoed of it........we do came across, among others some aspiring '1'; i.e. 1Nation, 1Unity, 1Paulian (from my alma mater), 1Price, 1Digit......and of course we also get some unusual '1'; 1Telor. 1Najxx, 1Shxx, and so forth......

what matters to me its about the outcome and the term being use of some kind of in layman term ' a branding entity'; Of late, I have been reading a book 'Branding for DUMMIES'; the well-known 'for DUMMIES; is a collaboration works comes up by the Wiley Publishing Inc. to help among others to promote writing enthusiast who can easily recognized the affiliations of certain subjects that are being brought up with the acronyms of 'FOR DUMMIES'.

My first thought of the branding entity quite fast tracking to Najib and his 1Malaysia. I read about his past hobby as being an avid reader himself and maybe his team of consultant had him to come up with a short yet simplified motto to have a deep implication on every Malaysian; 1Malaysia equals Najib or vice versa.
This philosophical marketing trend has long been use in America which widespread amongst corporate owner during the gold rush period that makes us easily recognized the brand of McD, Nike, GM, Ford and so forth.....while in Malaysia, companies has for the past decade come to realized the important of branding in their products.
I still recall my lectures session back in college and Uni, about the emphasized of building Identity, In architecture or interior design, we were being told about building and to come up with a conceptual or lasting impression/identity of an layout, space and its form as being aesthetically conjugates with the given site or its surroundings.
That is how we have our landmark Pelli's KLCC to proclaim as the tallest building in the world for a few years before being overtaken by the CY Lee's 'Taipei 101'....

what i am looking at its about the way a message is being send across and above all, the reaction of the chant; the social innuendo and of course the true meaning of the 'word' itself. A message and a motto gotta be a real strong wave to struck everyone's mind of its real propaganda; regardless of its real intend as that will be the secondary objective of a strong brand..........i did read our former info minister memoriam in TheMalaysianinsider about his political endeavor during his UMNO period and how he has been able to manipulate the then Malaysian (including myself) about their propaganda and he boldly admit that he is none other than a propaganda minister..........

The presence of previous mainstream media. i.e., TV, radio, mainstream newspaper, magazine strongly upheld an important info-mind-stream of every community of the world, though it is slowly depriving in its existence in providing the latest news, and medium of socio-politico-economy........we rather rely on the online piece of news although some can be from an unreliably source,

at least we tend to have a choice to choose what we wanna listen and filter out what we don't...................:-))

Of Plan...and planning

Eveyone has a plan, being it a workable plan or merely an disillusion/non-materialized plan. I am being taught to prepare drawing plan for my field of works, being it an preliminary proposal for most of my current job scope later of my working life; Hence planning to me its an usual day to day basis of work and routine.
In real, when plan is being drafted out, its a matter of implementation or in accordance to any plan direction.

Adhering to the planning instruction is also crucial in ensuring if the planning works.
Hence the preparation of the 'plan' is a bigger task to ensure the 'enforcement' of plan is sufficient enough to implementation steps.

I have prepare countless plans and drawing and plots to many of my client.
Some works just beautiful, when you realised they 'buy' your planning and implementation works is as scheduled and as per 'plan'.
Some were 'so-so' as they may not understand the relevancy and the accuracy merely base upon lined 'plan'.That's how I regards this plan as a fail plan. Somehow; this category of group is to its minimum as most plan are being scrutinized and amended more than once before the implementation as it requires client to agree upon and their agreement signifies their desired intent that are being interpreted by me or my team to their utmost requirement.

Of course I do have client who doesn't know shit about plan and its planning; we sell them the plan and at the mean time preparing the most realistic 'plan' to them for their views and least misunderstanding.

The kick start of a plan in an early stage reduce a lot of discrepancy in later stage of works, provided it is being taken care of in a proper and contended way.
Yet, the real problem within a plan has always been a fundamental paradox in resolving planning of myself.
I plan a lot, short term plan, mid term plan and to the of forecast plan; so much so that I lost track of the actual content of my initial planning.Indulging and procrastinate too long in a plan contributes also towards the failure of my plan. Sometimes 'Timeframe' is also added in the vocab of planning. its so much of the restriction for me to not adhered to the timeframe in a planning. Fasttracking does not help either in planning; it only cause more chaos and chaotic. The stake is even higher and the consequence is sometimes fatal.
In every job every task I am counter take now, I have a deep thought and a greater consideration not of its beauty or the end result but more of its consequence and after affect.

Sunny Sunday

Weekend is always the most fascinable for me to take a short break from everything that comes into my concern; It used to be my family day, but not anymore for sometime now since I am living away from Mom, Sis and Bro.
Sunday is now an reflection day for me; Been swaying around in this small town, Looking @ 2 layers of community over here, very much different aback from KL city; whereby, you can't differentiate multiple layers of people dotted and scattered below the concrete jungle on this very own Sunday. I still recall once, I stay @ one of this not so plush hotel in the GOlden Triangle of KL, wakes up to not so fancy activities of usual hawkers @ jln Alor except for a few coffeshops, some expats sipping coffee in front of BB Plaza, many shops were just closed for that particularly early hour;(i guess its about 8plus).
So, Sunday; according to WikiPedia:

Sunday (pronounced /ˈsʌndi/ or /ˈsʌndeɪ/ ( listen)) is the day of the week between Saturday and Monday. In the Jewish law, Sunday is the first day of the Hebrew calendar week. In most Christian traditions it is considered the "Christian Sabbath", which is a change from seventh-day Sabbath or Jewish Shabbat.[1] For many Christians it began to take the place of Shabbatas the day set apart for the public and solemn worship of God.

Sunday is considered the first day of the week in some countries, including the United States and Japan, although today many countries such as the United Kingdom regard Sunday as the seventh day, at least in the working week and the civil week.[2]

Sunday is considered a non-working day in many countries of the world, and is part of "the weekend". Countries predominantly influenced by Jewish or Islamic religions have Friday or Saturday as a weekly non-working day instead.

The Gregorian calendar repeats every 400 years, and no century starts on a Sunday. The Jewish New Year never falls on a Sunday. Only those months beginning on a Sunday will contain a Friday the 13th.

So here I am sipping a cuppa usual Nescafe, vying to get hooked on the forever slow broadband internet connection, looking and searching for some new software and songs to download to kill my daily life overhere. @ the mean time, my usual search include reading daily dosage of APAPUNBOLEHLAND news; most of the news coverage of happening @ the west Malaysia, notably KL.

Samy won; again, a good sign i think for PR people as this indicate a sign of change for the 3 years from now GE13 campaigning strategy that Barisan Najib is still very much inadequate to understand that, we are not MORON, who will read and take watever news that are being feed to us everyday from your mainstream newsportal; namely Ugutan Malaysia, The Star, the MCA's paper, New Shit Times and The Magahai Mail.Rite, sometimes just really getting shit of why do I care so much about what's going on, I just wonder why; Why should I give a shit of what is happening here? It doesn't benefit much to me either in any other way. Sigh.....Back here, I tend myself to read mostly known left wings and neutral newsportal; namely The Malaysian Insider, Malaysia Today(respect to RPK) and Malaysiakini, which I guess its the news most of my mate does the same in everyday basis.

Some vocal socio-politic critics of personal blogs are also my to-read blog; namely Niamah by PT, Zorro Unmasked by BK, and sometimes ROckyBru by I dunno who.

Each of this piece of news do makes my day realising how the state-of-mind of people in general of my layers of social standing, and do we share the same view in lieu of current political scenario; or am I being the odd one here, being radically anti-government or some sort....

As daily dosage of reading oso includes Archi and design blogs, starting with Mirage Studio7 by Tun Ngan, Cool Hunters and of course The Wallpaper; and as books is not easily available here; I tend to download books from Ebook and Ebook exchange courtesy of SoftArchive, (many thanx to the host). Many of the reknown architect's work.....are indeed being shared online which i only realised now......not too late though....:-))

Somehow, this is for today, and I am just getting a little distracted by more motions over here.
